Éric Maltaite learns the comic trade from his father, Willy Maltaite, better known as Will. In 1978, together with Stephen Desberg, he creates 'Jules et Gil'. During the eighties they launch a detective-series called '421', about special agent Jimmy Plant. In working on this, Maltaite develops his own style, which is more realistic than his father's.
